What makes a French-language education in Ontario unique?

From daycare to French-language schools and to French or bilingual colleges or universities in Ontario, students receive a unique French-language education and life experience.

More than a learning environment in which French is the language of communication, FLE schools promote French-language culture and heritage. It becomes natural to use French in everyday life, in school and outside of the classroom.

Exclusive early childhood programs start French students off right

Convinced that a French-language education begins with exploration, play and discovery, French-language school boards offer free, full-time junior and senior kindergarten programs to children starting at age 4. These programs favour each child’s personal, social and intellectual development, optimizing his or her long-term success.

A dynamic francophone community near you

The diversity of the francophone community in Ontario enhances the cultural environment in which our students evolve. Since our community is changing rapidly, it is important to welcome and accompany every person wishing to attend a French-language school, college or university. French-language education works in collaboration with several partners in various communities, in order to expand the range of services and better meet the individual and collective needs of its pupils and students. In certain cases, this also includes offering services to parents who choose a French-language education in Ontario for their child.

Personalized resources and solutions for French-language learning

Homework should be a positive, stress-free learning opportunity. With this in mind, Grade 1 to 12 students attending French-language schools have access to a personalized homework assistance service, SOS Devoirs. This service is funded through the Canada-Ontario Agreement and is possible thanks to a collaborative effort of all French-language school boards. Several assistance and coaching programs have been developed to meet the individual social, emotional or behavioural needs of students who require special attention.
